Co-Design and Citizen Participation
Ronda, Spain

Seminar on co-design and citizen participation, to give visibility to the main demands of local administrations in the field of citizen participation. This is a first step that, with the international seminar scheduled for 2025, will allow consensus, from a participatory perspective based on co-design and co-creation, on the Ronda Declaration on the importance of citizen participation as the axis of social protection. This declaration will be sent to the Global Summit organized by the UN in 2025, will be presented at a side event at the Social Development Commission at the UN in February 2025, and will be sent to the world congress of Social Work in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2026. In this session we will have the president of the ICSW and former Minister of Labor and Social Security of the South Korean government, Dr. Suh. Likewise, we will have the co- design expert from the UB, Dr. Raquel Pelta, the former Minister of Labor of the Portuguese government, Paulo Pedroso, and the UNED professor and director of The Participatory Group, Dr. Marta Lora-Tamayo Vallvé.

Goals:

  • Address the most effective participation strategies in local Administration from a comparative perspective.
  • Analyze the demands of all the actors involved in the participatory processes from a co- design methodology.
  • Analyze good participatory practices in the international environment from a comparative perspective.
  • Develop the key elements to be able to prepare the Ronda Declaration on citizen participation.

The conferences have a double character: a top-level international debate, mixed with teamwork practices. There will be practical sessions organized from the methodology of co-design of public services. In this way, the result of the seminar will include both the strategic issues and the demands of the different actors in the field of local administration.
