Social Work Day at the UN

| Global Agenda

The 36th Social Work Day at the UN was celebrated on 1 April 2019 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Organized by International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW), International Council on Social Welfare (ICSW) and International Federation of Social Workers (IFSW), it was attended by several hundred students, social workers and social development practitioners. Its topic was chosen to highlight importance of human relationships--the priority theme of the Global Agenda for Social Policy and Social Development, adopted by the IASSW, ICSW and IFSW, with special emphasis on policies and programs to protect children.

The speakers represented three main groups of stakeholders working on issues of child welfare at the UN: member states of the United Nations, UN secretariat and specialized agencies of the UN, and civil society organizations.

The program of the event is attached.

The panel discussion was recorded by the UN TV and is available here.
